Swimming Lessons

Our 2024 Swim Sessions

We offer a variety of swim lessons for your little ones. For the new swimmers, we start with the basics such as jumping in and floating. While our second and third-year swimmers focus on swimming the full length of a pool and diving for rings.

We will begin accepting registration for the 2024 summer beginning February 1, 2024.

New Swimmers 1-2 Years Old

At this age, we really focus on water awareness and safety. Some of the skills your child will learn are swimming independently from the steps to you, swimming to the wall, jumping in, rescue breathing, and floating.

  • Sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 6:30 pm
  • Lessons are individual
  • 30-minute sessions

New Swimmers 2-3 Years Old

At this age, your child’s body has developed and is a little more coordinated. So we are able to strengthen basic swimming skills such as swimming independently, jumping in and going back to the wall, floating, rescue breathing, and diving down for rings or toys.

  • Sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 6:30 pm
  • Lessons are individual
  • 30-minute sessions

New Swimmers 3-5 Years Old

At this age, your child’s body is stronger and has further developed. We work hard on horizontal swimming since often your child has been in a life vest or water wings in their early years.

While practicing horizontal swimming, we work on independent swimming, jumping in and going back to the wall, pop-up breathing, floating, rescue breathing, and diving down for rings or toys.

  • Sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 6:30 pm
  • Lessons are individual
  • 30-minute sessions

Second Year Swimmers

For your second year with Katy Fox Swim School, we will continue to develop and strengthen the skills your child learned in the previous year. We build on what they have learned and add new skills, all while practicing water safety and awareness.

New skills could include but are not limited to pop-up breathing, diving for rings or toys, swimming the length of the pool independently, elementary backstroke, and diving.

  • Sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 6:30 pm
  • Lessons are individual
  • 30-minute sessions

Third Year Swimmers

For your third year with Katy Fox Swim School, we really concentrate and hone in on making your child safe and independent in a pool. We want you and your family to be able to enjoy pools knowing your child can be safe in a pool independently.

We continue to strengthen and build on their swimming skills, as well as introducing stroke development.

  • Sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 6:30 pm
  • Lessons are individual
  • 30-minute sessions

Advanced Swimmers

We offer stroke training and development for recreational and competitive swimming in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, as well as water polo skills.

  • Sessions are scheduled between 10 am and 6:30 pm
  • Lessons are individual
  • 30-minute sessions

F.A.Q.

What is the best age to start swim lessons?

Now is the best time to start! We teach children as young as 6 months old to complete survival swimming skills. We believe the younger the better, and 1 – 2 years old is the best. We have experience teaching children of all ages. After seeing their kids learn to swim, we have had the joy of teaching some of our parents as well.

What are the risks of "Dry Drowning"?

There are many misconceptions about this term. We would like to leave it up to professionals in the fields of science and medicine to inform you. Please click here to learn some facts about “dry drownings”, which account for less than 1-2% of drownings nationwide.

Is there an age limit for lessons?
There is no age limit and all swimmers: beginning, intermediate and advanced are welcome. We also offer water polo lessons for advanced swimmers. Although the main thrust of our programming is driven by child instruction, we also teach adults how to swim, be safe and be comfortable in the water.
Will my child learn to swim in one summer?
We guarantee that each child will meet a certain level of swimming ability during a 10 lesson session, based on age and previous experience. Like any skill, swimming takes practice! Each season as our swimmers hang up their suits, their skills and confidence begin to degrade. Children often will need three sessions/years of lessons to become independent swimmers. However, all children require direct adult supervision in the pool.

Are the lessons individual or group?
All lessons are individual unless it is an advanced stroke group.
